When you put the Lord first, He supernaturally and divinely orders your day so that you are able to accomplish the important things according to His will. The urgent no longer overshadows the important, and things that seemed pressing suddenly fall away, no longer significant in His great kingdom plan. This means that the Lord will give you the grace, energy, and sustenance to care for your essential responsibilities while you are fasting. Necessary work and caring for your family fits the category of "essential responsibilities". The key is to prioritize the Lord above all else, to seek His guidance in all things, and to trust Him every step of the way. You must also have the courage and obedience to forsake opportunities and tasks on your list if God's priorities prove different from yours.
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)
| | Fasting | : : The Compassion of Jesus and the Purpose of this Fast | | Fasting | : : I'm Afraid to Fast! | | | Only through the strength of God and His direction are we truly able to fast in a way that is acceptable and pleasing to Him. He desires that we all experience a deep, abiding relationship that only comes from Him. This intimate walk with God requires faith not fear.
Perhaps you feel overwhelmed by or fearful of fasting. Take it to the Lord in prayer. Then, listen for His still, small voice. No matter in your life is unimportant to Him, and He will guide you. First, though, you have to silence the distractions that often crowd out your time with Him and compete with His voice.
Remember that a Christian spiritual fast is not a contest; you need not compare yourself or your experience to another. It's not the number of days that you fast or even the number of meals that you fast that matters; the Lord honors the act of humbling yourself in true repentance. He wants your heart, not your stomach!
Our faithful God will prepare you for the task that you have been called to. You have been chosen to be in an intimate relationship with Him. This time of feasting on the Word of God is meant to draw you to the feet of Jesus and there you will find the peace that passes understanding.
There is no reason to fear when God is leading, especially when that path leads you out of the darkness and uncertainty of this earthly life and directs you to His very presence and into the embrace of His awesome love. We should not fear this path, but anticipate it with joy and longing for every moment we have to spend with our most gracious Heavenly Father.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9)
"Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD." (Psalm 4:5)
| | Fasting | : : How Fasting Relates to the The Great Commandment | | Fasting | : : True Fasting as Detailed in Isaiah 58 | | Fasting | : : Isn't Fasting Practiced by Other Religions (and By Those with No Religion?) | | Fasting | : : Why Fast Now? | | Fasting | : : Corporate and Intercessory Fasting | | | You may already be a disciplined and Spirit-filled Christian, but God's kingdom plan extends beyond individuals. Fasting is also an important intercessory tool, especially when done corporately. (Corporate fasting occurs when a body of believers fasts together; intercessory fasting is fasting on behalf of another.) Now, particularly, our nation's moral and spiritual landscape grows bleaker and weaker by the day. Corporate intercessory fasting, when accompanied by prayer, powerfully beseeches God to have mercy on this nation and throughout the world.symptoms of chlamydia in the throat phuckedporn.com oral chlamydia pictures my girlfriend cheated on me with another girl open my ex girlfriend cheated on me is my husband cheated on me open i almost cheated on my husband
| | Fasting | : : 2008 Lenten Fast | | Fasting | : : I'm a Pastor; How Do I Get My Congregation Involved? | | Fasting | : : I'm a Parent; How Do I Include My Children in this 40-Day Journey? | | | The Trumpet and Torch website provides helpful information and resources for parents who desire to share their journey with their children and instill in them the discipline of feasting upon the Word of God at a young age. This ministry does not endorse restricting or eliminating food from the diet of young children in any way. This website is designed to help believers grow in their intimacy with the Lord by feasting upon the Word of God and prayer. The Lord commanded us to teach these things to our children so that when they grow up they will not depart from them (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; 11:18-21; Proverbs 22:6). Our prayer is that this journey will not only instill in parents the blessings of abiding in Christ, but also raise up a future generation of children who will learn from a very young age the importance of meditating on the Scriptures and praying to their Heavenly Father. | | Fasting | : : Have Additional Questions or Need More Information? | | Fasting | : : This is My First Fasting Experience; What Should I Expect? | | Fasting | : : Legalism and the Liquid Fast | | |
The essence of a liquid fast is choosing to abstain from eating solid food. Usually, a liquid fast includes things such as water, fruit juice, vegetable juice, and clear broths. Your body still receives nutrition through the juices, but you sacrifice the texture and taste of solid food.
Be cautious of legalizing the liquid fast. Drinking a milkshake, while it can be sipped through a straw, probably does not honor the intention of your fast. Broth served in a bowl, eaten with a spoon is no better or worse than if you drank it. Blending fresh fruits and vegetables into a finer consistency (even adding juice or broth to thin out the mixture) is perfectly fine, as long as the Lord is leading you in that direction.
Some people choose to put protein powders and supplements in their drinks; others do not. Some people completely abstain from sugar and sodium; some modify the amount; some use sugar substitutes. Do not judge what others are doing, but look to the Lord for what He would have YOU do.
Let the Lord lead you; do not let the enemy neutralize your honorable intentions by diverting your focus to the planning and preparation of your food (or drinks!). You do not want to spend more time thinking about what you are (or are not!) going to eat than you spend with the Lord. Focus on praying, meditating upon His Word, and fellowshipping with Him. Do not become paralyzed by the choices of what you should or should not eat. Pray before you choose, submit your choices to the Lord, and use your time wisely with Him.
If you do eat or drink something that you believe is inappropriate, given what the Lord has impressed upon your heart, do not let the enemy convince you that you've blown your fast. You have not! Pray, ask for the Lords guidance and strength, and move forward. The Lord knows your heart (see 1 Samuel 16:7, Psalm 44:21, Luke 16:15, Acts 15:8, Romans 8:27, 1 John 3:20).

| | Fasting | : : I Feel So Weak! What Should I Do? | | | Some fleshly weakness is normal; extreme distress is not. Again, take it to the Lord in prayer, and truly submit to His leading. The Lord is good; He will guide you! Pride is the antithesis of fasting. You do not want to willfully decide for yourself how you are going to fast, and neither do you want to intentionally draw attention to your fast. Falling down the staircase is not a very compelling testimony for fasting unto the Lord! In Matthew 6:16-18, Jesus cautioned, " 'When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men that they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, Who is unseen; and your Father, Who sees what is done in secret, will reward You.' "
You may have extenuating circumstances, which necessitate a modification of your fast. If youve been ill, for example, or if you have a physically demanding job, --whatever your circumstances--look to the Lord to lead you to the proper nutritional balance for your particular situation. Our abstinence of food should not be the focus for us, or for anyone else who is witnessing our Christian walk. Our love of--and complete surrender to--Jesus Christ should be hallmark of our fast and the standard of our lives.

How to use this website for fasting and prayer
The Lord created us to have a
personal relationship with Him. As in any relationship, we must nurture
and care for our relationship with the Lord so that it will grow and
flourish. Our Lord is always pursuing us, even when we are not actively
pursuing Him. He reveals Himself to us in many ways - big and small, in
difficulty as well as in blessing - in order to capture our attention
and to grow us into His likeness.
EAT is designed to take the believer
on a journey, through the simple process of using the traditional
mealtime schedule, to build a disciplined lifestyle of spending time
with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It seems difficult to believe
that we must be "taught" to spend time with the Lord, but the enemy is
very deceptive and sly. Many of us live completely unaware of the
numerous minutes and hours that are swept away by mindless, idle
distractions. The enemy cleverly intends to keep us so busy that we
have little time to spend with the One Who created us and loves us
above all else.
In the Scriptures, the Lord often
used mealtime as a time of teaching and ministering. He continues to
use this ordinary and necessary mealtime routine to ignite a desire in
us - a craving for Him above all things, even our food. When the
Israelites wandered the desert for 40 years, the Lord caused them to
hunger and thirst; this purposeful correction disciplined them to seek
Him and to put their trust in Him. Today, He still longs for His
children to trust Him and to obey His commands.
Jesus said, "'Love the Lord your God
with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind.' This is the
first and the greatest commandment" (Matthew 22:37-38). Our entire
lives should revolve around Him, and yet, most of us spend more time
planning our lives around when we will eat next and what we will eat.
How different life would be - spiritually, physically, emotionally, and
otherwise - if desired Him like we desire food?
It is our prayer that EAT will
encourage you to suspend your usual schedule in order to meet God for
breakfast, lunch, and dinner - every meal, every day. Do not skip any
meals. Just like missing a physical meal may cause your body to become
weak, missing a meal with the Lord weakens you spiritually. Sacrificing
physical food is not really the emphasis of this fast. Rather, the
priority is holding fast to the Lord and clinging to Him throughout the
day. We lay the sacrifice of precious time on the altar so that He may
fill us with His Daily Bread.
You may find it difficult to
surrender your food to the Lord, and, especially in the beginning, you
may first need to fast (surrender) your time. As you grow in the
discipline of spending time with the Lord, He will build a desire and a
strength that will allow you to set aside your natural food for His
completely fulfilling supernatural food.
Take each day as it comes, one meal
at a time, and follow God's leading in your life. Do not compare your
experience to others. God's purposes for you are unique and specially
designed to achieve what He wants to accomplish in your life. Do not
succumb to the discouraging voice of the enemy; he wants to captivate
every moment of your day and hold your mind hostage with dispiriting
and unholy thoughts. Stand firm on the Word that is nourishing you, and
be filled with the encouraging voice of your Savior. He is so pleased
with your desire to spend time with Him!
As you walk and dine with the Lord,
He will reveal Scripture to you; follow His leading and journey there.
Linger over them, meditate upon them, and savor them. The devotions in
this journal are only a starting point. Consider them to be appetizers
- little letters of encouragement offering a taste of what your
faithfulness will produce. Please take time to record any words,
Scriptures, or names that the Lord impresses upon your heart. You will
be grateful for your personal journal at the end of your journey, and
it will stand as a written testament of the Lord's transforming work in
your life.
Forty days seems like a lot, but -
considering the length of a lifetime and in comparison to eternity - it
is only a moment in time. The Scriptures record many stories that
exemplify how God changed a people and a nation in 40 days. There is
something Divinely supernatural about a 40-day time frame, and the Lord
can accomplish a lifetime's work through you in that relatively short
period of time...
We pray that you do not enter into
this journey because of what you hope to achieve or experience. We pray
that, above all else, that in 40 days, you will find yourself face to
face with your Lord and Savior. We pray that you will be forever
spoiled with a hunger and thirst for His righteousness, overflowing
with the glory of God and overcome with the desire to lead others to
Him.
When you seek Him you will find Him... if you seek Him with all your heart!
"One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple."
-Psalm 27:4
