| | Fasting | : : What is Spiritual Fasting? | | Fasting | : : Is Fasting Relevant in a Covenant of Grace? | | Fasting | : : Fasting: Superficial or Supernatural? | | Fasting | : : Fast Unto the Lord, Not Unto Men | | | Fasting is a sacred and special sacrifice; it is for the Lord, not for human approval or notice. In Matthew 6:16-18, Jesus cautions those who choose to fast for human admiration and approval, "When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, Who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
Please understand the spirit of Jesus' message. He is not saying that absolutely no one should know when we are fasting. In fact, it is very important to have a trusted Christian friend or a network of Christian friends who can pray for you while you are fasting. Jesus is cautioning against fasting for the approval and notice of man, just as He cautions against giving for sheer spectacle. looking to cheat redirect how to tell if wife has cheated
| | Fasting | : : Who Fasted in the Bible? | | Fasting | : : Are There Different Kinds of Fasts? | | Fasting | : : How Do I Fast Unto the Lord in Today's World? | | Fasting | : : The Compassion of Jesus and the Purpose of this Fast | | Fasting | : : I'm Afraid to Fast! | | Fasting | : : How Fasting Relates to the The Great Commandment | | Fasting | : : True Fasting as Detailed in Isaiah 58 | | Fasting | : : Isn't Fasting Practiced by Other Religions (and By Those with No Religion?) | | Fasting | : : Why Fast Now? | | | What is so important about fasting at this particular time? There is no record in the Bible that Jesus' disciples fasted during His active earthly ministry, yet Jesus Himself answers that question in Matthew 9:15: "Then John's disciples came and asked Him, 'How is it that we and the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?' Jesus answered, 'How can the guests of the Bridegroom mourn while He is with them? The time will come when the Bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.'" (See also Mark 2:18-19 and Luke 5:33-35). Fasting is associated with and accompanied by sorrow, repentance, and seeking God's face. When Jesus was with his disciples, there was no need for them to fast! Although believers today have the gift of the Holy Spirit living inside of us, we still patiently and hopefully await the return of Jesus. When He returns, He should find us faithfully serving Him (reference Matthew 24:45-47). phone tracking apps for android turbofish.com monitoring apps for android women who cheat on their husbands femchoice.org i dream my husband cheated on me i dream my husband cheated on me read why husbands cheat abortion cost site are abortions free app spy phone click apps for tracking cell phone location
| | Fasting | : : Corporate and Intercessory Fasting | | | You may already be a disciplined and Spirit-filled Christian, but God's kingdom plan extends beyond individuals. Fasting is also an important intercessory tool, especially when done corporately. (Corporate fasting occurs when a body of believers fasts together; intercessory fasting is fasting on behalf of another.) Now, particularly, our nation's moral and spiritual landscape grows bleaker and weaker by the day. Corporate intercessory fasting, when accompanied by prayer, powerfully beseeches God to have mercy on this nation and throughout the world.symptoms of chlamydia in the throat phuckedporn.com oral chlamydia pictures my girlfriend cheated on me with another girl open my ex girlfriend cheated on me is my husband cheated on me open i almost cheated on my husband
| | Fasting | : : 2008 Lenten Fast | | |
We at Trumpet and Torch believe that the Lord has anointed a time of fasting during the 2008 Lenten season. This 40-day call to fast begins on February 6th (Ash Wednesday) and ends on March 16th (Palm Sunday). During this time, regular schedules will be set aside so that each of us may make the Lord the ultimate priority. The Trumpet and Torch website exists and was specifically designed to provide a practical tool, EAT, which, through a daily devotional journey, leads each individual believer into a disciplined lifestyle of seeking God through mealtime. We believe that the resources within this site exist "for such a time as this." (Reference Esther 4:14). We believe that the Lord is calling His Church to awaken and to prepare herself for His return. To that end, each individual believer must step forward in faith and purpose to seek God first, with a complete and undivided heart, and with oneness of soul, mind, and strength (reference Mark 12:30 and Luke 10:27). Then, the Lord's intention to use the Church (the body of Christ) as salt and light in the world (reference Matthew 5:13-16) will accomplish His purpose of spreading the gospel to the four corners of the earth (reference Matthew 28:19-20). Individually, we each must re-establish connection with our Creator Father in order to channel His heart and His will throughout the earth. We are living in the midst of a spiritual famine in our land, and our own lives have become parched by and polluted with the world's agenda; we must be cleansed and refreshed with the power of the Holy Spirit, the living water of the living God. "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." (John 7:37b-38). To allow the Living Water to fully flow within us, we must unclog our hearts and lives from the worldly debris that clutters, crowds, and contaminates the purity and simplicity of His promise. We must pray, as David prayed, for an unadulterated heart, for abiding faithfulness, and for enthusiastic service: "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10). " 'Even now,' declares the LORD, 'return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity. ...Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a Holy fast, call a sacred assembly...' " (Joel 2:12-13, 15). This is our preparation period for His return. His Bride (the Church) must awaken and dress; we must be consecrated and purified for His arrival. With each individual resolution, a corporate shifting of His Church will occur. As each single heart fully turns to Him, the collective heartbeat of the Church will grow louder and stronger, unified in our bold pronouncement that Jesus is our Lord and Savior! Then, as the Lord promises in Revelation 7:16-17, "Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of Living Water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." sex stories older woman teenboy click stories of train sex prescription discounts cards coupons free walgreens in store photo coupons

How to use this website for fasting and prayer
The Lord created us to have a
personal relationship with Him. As in any relationship, we must nurture
and care for our relationship with the Lord so that it will grow and
flourish. Our Lord is always pursuing us, even when we are not actively
pursuing Him. He reveals Himself to us in many ways - big and small, in
difficulty as well as in blessing - in order to capture our attention
and to grow us into His likeness.
EAT is designed to take the believer
on a journey, through the simple process of using the traditional
mealtime schedule, to build a disciplined lifestyle of spending time
with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It seems difficult to believe
that we must be "taught" to spend time with the Lord, but the enemy is
very deceptive and sly. Many of us live completely unaware of the
numerous minutes and hours that are swept away by mindless, idle
distractions. The enemy cleverly intends to keep us so busy that we
have little time to spend with the One Who created us and loves us
above all else.
In the Scriptures, the Lord often
used mealtime as a time of teaching and ministering. He continues to
use this ordinary and necessary mealtime routine to ignite a desire in
us - a craving for Him above all things, even our food. When the
Israelites wandered the desert for 40 years, the Lord caused them to
hunger and thirst; this purposeful correction disciplined them to seek
Him and to put their trust in Him. Today, He still longs for His
children to trust Him and to obey His commands.
Jesus said, "'Love the Lord your God
with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind.' This is the
first and the greatest commandment" (Matthew 22:37-38). Our entire
lives should revolve around Him, and yet, most of us spend more time
planning our lives around when we will eat next and what we will eat.
How different life would be - spiritually, physically, emotionally, and
otherwise - if desired Him like we desire food?
It is our prayer that EAT will
encourage you to suspend your usual schedule in order to meet God for
breakfast, lunch, and dinner - every meal, every day. Do not skip any
meals. Just like missing a physical meal may cause your body to become
weak, missing a meal with the Lord weakens you spiritually. Sacrificing
physical food is not really the emphasis of this fast. Rather, the
priority is holding fast to the Lord and clinging to Him throughout the
day. We lay the sacrifice of precious time on the altar so that He may
fill us with His Daily Bread.
You may find it difficult to
surrender your food to the Lord, and, especially in the beginning, you
may first need to fast (surrender) your time. As you grow in the
discipline of spending time with the Lord, He will build a desire and a
strength that will allow you to set aside your natural food for His
completely fulfilling supernatural food.
Take each day as it comes, one meal
at a time, and follow God's leading in your life. Do not compare your
experience to others. God's purposes for you are unique and specially
designed to achieve what He wants to accomplish in your life. Do not
succumb to the discouraging voice of the enemy; he wants to captivate
every moment of your day and hold your mind hostage with dispiriting
and unholy thoughts. Stand firm on the Word that is nourishing you, and
be filled with the encouraging voice of your Savior. He is so pleased
with your desire to spend time with Him!
As you walk and dine with the Lord,
He will reveal Scripture to you; follow His leading and journey there.
Linger over them, meditate upon them, and savor them. The devotions in
this journal are only a starting point. Consider them to be appetizers
- little letters of encouragement offering a taste of what your
faithfulness will produce. Please take time to record any words,
Scriptures, or names that the Lord impresses upon your heart. You will
be grateful for your personal journal at the end of your journey, and
it will stand as a written testament of the Lord's transforming work in
your life.
Forty days seems like a lot, but -
considering the length of a lifetime and in comparison to eternity - it
is only a moment in time. The Scriptures record many stories that
exemplify how God changed a people and a nation in 40 days. There is
something Divinely supernatural about a 40-day time frame, and the Lord
can accomplish a lifetime's work through you in that relatively short
period of time...
We pray that you do not enter into
this journey because of what you hope to achieve or experience. We pray
that, above all else, that in 40 days, you will find yourself face to
face with your Lord and Savior. We pray that you will be forever
spoiled with a hunger and thirst for His righteousness, overflowing
with the glory of God and overcome with the desire to lead others to
Him.
When you seek Him you will find Him... if you seek Him with all your heart!
"One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple."
